The Bloodaxe was a project conceived after tracking drums for an
audition demo for drummer Brokk Dagaz. Brokk hired me and we went about the recording process with no grand ideas in mind.

A few days later I found myself board, sitting around the studio
and decided to pull up the audition tracks. 3 hours later I had written
and recorded riffs to accompany the tracks that Brokk had laid down
to the click track. There I was sitting with 4 menacing metal tracks so
I sent them to Brokk to review. I suggested that we should do another
session. He was game.

We wound up writing and recording the skeletons of the tracks in
2 additional sessions. Our styles worked together effortlessly and we
had a blast forging these riffs into songs. With the bones laid out I
set to work and hammered out the rest of the music production.

Throughout the writing process I felt like this project would be
a great opportunity to involve some Denver friends and band mates
that I have watched and admired over the years. I wanted guys who
could both write and sing aggressively. It was important to me that
they get involved and bring their own writing styles to the project.
I began hitting up the vocalist that collaborate on this recording
and to my pure fucking joy they all agreed to take part.

One by one they all came in prepared with great ideas for the
track that I had selected for them. We knocked the vocal tracking out
as time permitted. Fit in between studio business, sessions and life.
This is the culmination and collaboration that took about 2 years to
complete. Sincere thanks to all involved, your support and patience.
